I just finished the second of two recent films that make up some of the most beautiful eye candy I have ever seen. Both show beautiful settings and absolutely gorgeous costumes, the latter being my main reason for loving them in an artistic sense.
The first movie was the latest "Three Musketeers" to hit the silver screen. Don't take your eyes off the screen! Every shot is worth seeing and certainly pulled me into the story. There were some backgrounds I'm sure were painted and the historical inaccuracy of King Louis XIII living in Versailles, which was in fact built by his son Louis XIV (lol I'm a bit of a history geek), but they don't matter much. And the costumes are to die for! The gowns are
so beautiful. I would love to have the chance and occasion to wear such amazing clothes! The cast isn't bad either, from Orlando Bloom being cast twice (not really, but one of the other actors looks just like him), to the boy playing D'Artagnon, who is so
ridiculously adorable that it makes me laugh, and threaten to pinch his cheeks. I'm sure you younger girls will have a different reaction
The second gorgeous film is called "The Secret of Moonacre" which came out in 2008. I don't remember hearing about it, but it's on Netflixs right now. The costumes are AMAZING! The movie is set in the Victorian era with a strong fantasy angle to the story and lots of steampunk elements in the fashion, which makes them wonderfully varied and visually delicious. I don't really understand how the women can possibly sit down in some of those gowns, but they look like so much fun. The mansion where the main character goes to live is amazing as well - I would love to decorate my house like that! It has an old, falling-apart air to it, like the castle in "Beauty and the Beast" which is lovely. The girl's enchanted bedroom is the coolest part!
I'm sure I can't do justice to these visual masterpieces with words, so go see them yourselves!
